Relating to Frida
“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.” ― Frida Kahlo
I love the work of Frida Kahlo! I admire how authentic she is in her paintings. When veiwing her work, it may appear pretty graffic, however, when you read her biography it offers insightful information about her art.
When I read her quotes, the one above was the best reflection of what I felt growing up. The feeling of being "strange and flawed" can often create a very lonely feeling, until you wake up and realize that you are NOT alone. To know that, can often bring a sense of comfort and relatabiliy to effectively reach out to others in compassion. This is what I enjoy doing with my art.
